Project: “Achieving Gender Equality: an 11 country study of gender norms, attitudes and beliefs in early adolescence and their impacts on adolescent health and wellbeing”


Robert Blum, MD, PhD, MPH, is an award-winning scholar and researcher with decades of experience studying adolescent health worldwide. He came to Bellagio in November 2023 to synthesize the findings of a 10-year global research project exploring the impacts of gender norms on adolescent health and wellbeing in low-income communities. Robert is the emeritus William H. Gates, Sr. Professor at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and is a consultant to The World Bank, UNICEF, the United Nations Population Fund, and the WHO. He has previously served as the Director of the Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute, as President for Society for Adolescent Medicine and Health, and as a member of the American Board of Pediatrics.
