Project: “The political economy of the Kenyan Agricultural Sector: The effects of decentralisation on agriculture”


Dr. Kariuki is a political economist with an agricultural and legal background. He is passionate about providing innovative solutions within the African agricultural sphere, and he focuses his research and intervention strategies on agricultural public policy and the political economy of the Kenyan agricultural sector. Keni came to Bellagio in October 2022 to investigate the effect of decentralization on service delivery within the agricultural sector, and how it altered/if at all, the possibility of positive net benefits to smallholder farmers in Kenya. He is a Director of Scio Network, a Co-founder of Impact Hub Nairobi, a Chair holder at UNIDROIT, and a dissertation supervisor at the Centre for Development, Environment & Policy, SOAS, University.
