Project: “Advancing a Multidisciplinary Field of AI Practice”
James Guszcza is a renowned data scientist, author, former professor, and consultant working at the intersection of data science, design thinking, behavioral economics, and ethics. He has worked extensively on the creation of hybrid human-machine systems and was the first person to be designated Deloitte’s U.S. Chief Data Scientist. James visited Bellagio in March 2023 to articulate an alternate practical paradigm to prevailing machine learning engineering-based AI practices, with the hope of enabling developers and stakeholders to better avoid the many harms of AI. He is currently a Research Affiliate at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences [CASBS] at Stanford University.
