Project: “Political Economy of a Sixth of Humanity and India’s Future”


Devesh Kapur is a distinguished professor of international studies with a research focus on economic development, politics and international migration. In May 2022, Kapur came to Bellagio to work with collaborator Arvind Subramanian on a book about the political economy of modern India. He has authored and co-authored 10 books, including “Diaspora, Democracy and Development: The Impact of International Migration from India on India,” for which he won several awards. Kapur is the Starr Foundation South Asia Studies Professor at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University.
