Project: “Beyond NarxCare: From algorithmic bias to regulatory action in the US overdose crisis”


Daniel Wolfe is a leading global practitioner and scholar working to develop equitable strategies for digital health technology and to support the health and human rights of marginalized populations . He is a member of the UN’s Strategic Advisory Group on HIV and drug use and his work has been featured in multiple peer-reviewed and popular publications, including the New York Times, The Lancet and the Journal of the American Medical Association. Daniel came to Bellagio in February 2023 to develop a blueprint for regulation of the controversial NarxCare algorithm and, by extension, other software used to determine life-saving care. He is currently the inaugural Executive Director of the UCSF UC Berkeley Joint Program in Computational Precision Health.
