Carla Guelfenbein is a renowned Chilean writer. Guelfenbein came to Bellagio in September 2022 to work on a new novel that interlaces real characters with fiction about the lives of three Chilean women, including Maria Luisa Bombal, one of the most singular voices in Latin American literature. Guelfenbein is the author of nine novels which have repeatedly appeared on bestseller lists in Chile and have been translated into 16 languages. Her novel, Contigo en la Distancia, won the Alfaguara Novel Prize, one of the most prestigious Spanish-language literary awards.
