Project: “Equal Pay Now! How to make best use of the new European Directive on Pay Transparency”
Birte Meier is an award-winning investigative reporter and has been a public speaker on equal pay for years after winning a precedent-setting case in the Federal Labor Court. She came to Bellagio in October 2023 to explore how women can make the best use of the new European Directive on Pay Transparency. Birte is currently Chief Investigative Reporter at RTL, a German national broadcaster, and its print affiliate, Stern. Previously a senior producer/director at national public broadcaster ZDF, she has produced feature-length documentaries as well as investigative and explanatory magazine stories. She is also a recipient of the Thomas Mann Fellowship, the Environmental Media Award, the Friedrich Vogel Award, and the German Economic Film Award.
