About UsTeam Yvette Cabrera

Yvette Cabrera joined the Rockefeller Foundation in 2016 as Food Waste Analyst for the YieldWise Food Waste team. Before that, she served as a Strategic Planning Intern for the YieldWise initiative, during which time she developed the Food Waste Toolkit for the Office and undertook research around emerging insights in the food waste field.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Cabrera was enrolled in the graduate program in Food Studies at New York University, where she focused on international food systems and developed a business plan for a social enterprise that attempted to reduce food waste on the farm level in the New York tri-state area. Ms. Cabrera also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic from 2012-2014, where she worked primarily with women and youth on health initiatives, constructed improved cook stoves with her community, and coordinated educational campaigns around HIV/AIDS and environmental stewardship. Ms. Cabrera is also a contributing author to Edible magazine on the topic of food waste.

Ms. Cabrera holds an M.A. in Food Studies from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and a B.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
