By assembling the NYS2100 Commission and calling for our recommendations, Governor Cuomo is leading New York State wisely into the future. The Governor and my fellow commissioners know that moving forward from Sandy and preparing for future events must be thoughtful and must begin today. In addition to hard infrastructure fixes, there are a number of strategies that we can implement immediately, including improved institutional coordination and increased redundancy among systems.
The Rockefeller Foundation’s hard-earned experience with recovery work underscores the fact that building resilience is not a luxury. Every one of the recommendations made within the report would ultimately save dollars and lives. We look forward to continuing our work with the Governor to foster greater resilience for New York.
