The Rockefeller Foundation Launches Photo Exhibition and New Book, Innovative Partners: The Rockefeller Foundation and Thailand

BANGKOK—As part of its Centennial activities, The Rockefeller Foundation is commemorating its long history in Thailand with the launch of a photo exhibition, “Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of The Rockefeller Foundation and Thailand’s Development in Health, Agriculture, and Education,” featuring photos from the newly released book Innovative Partners: The Rockefeller Foundation and Thailand.

The photo exhibition will take place at the Siam Discovery Center, Ground Floor from November 5-8, and feature a rich collection of historical materials held by the Rockefeller Archive Center in New York. The opening ceremony will launch Innovative Partners: The Rockefeller Foundation and Thailand, the third book in the Foundation’s Centennial Series that provides case studies for people around the world who are working to promote the well-being of humankind.

These stories and rare photos from 1915 to the present are woven into a rich narrative on Thailand’s development in the last century, which is recounted in the book and recaptured through the photo exhibition. The book delves into the deeply intertwined relationship among The Rockefeller Foundation, the Thai Royal Family, the government, and the people of Thailand, highlighting important lessons into the process of development for researchers, nonprofit and international organizations.

“As we celebrate our 100th Anniversary, we realize how much we can learn from the past to ensure that we and our many partners in philanthropy continue to provide the venture capital that society needs to solve big problems in the future,” said Ashvin Dayal, managing director of The Rockefeller Foundation’s Asia office, based in Bangkok. “In the next century, we look forward to our continued partnership with Thailand.” Download Innovative Partners in various formats for free.

A Thai version of the book will be available by the end of 2013. Visitors to the exhibition are also able to receive a copy of the book by sharing their favorite exhibition photo on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter (using #rf100bkk) and submitting a screenshot to kanitha@rockfound.org.
