Project: “Climate Shocks: Bringing resilience of poor informal sector Women Workers”


Reema Nanavaty has been a global leader addressing the rights and livelihoods of informal workers for more than three decades. She was honored by the Government of India, in 2013, with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for her contributions to the field of social service. While in Bellagio in July 2023, she worked on a strategic plan to address the impacts of climate change on the resilience of poor informal sector women workers. Reema is currently the director of SEWA (Self-Employed Women’s Association of India), credited for building women’s livelihoods and enterprises in eighteen states in India as well as in neighboring countries such as Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan.
