Darrick Hamilton is an economist and public intellectual. Hamilton came to Bellagio in June 2023 to work on a book, framing the principles of a more “moral” and fair political economy grounded in human rights and shared prosperity. His work has inspired legislative proposals at the federal, state, and local levels. In 2020, he was appointed as a member of the economic committee of the Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force. Hamilton is currently the Henry Cohen Professor of Economics and Urban Policy, and the founding director of the Institute on Race, Power and Political Economy at The New School.
