Project: “Political Economy of a Sixth of Humanity and India’s Future”
Arvind Subramanian was named by Foreign Policy magazine as one of the world’s top 100 global thinkers in 2011. As a widely cited economist with expertise in development and international economics, Subramanian came to Bellagio in May 2022 to work with Devesh Kapur on a book about the political economy of modern India. Formerly Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India between 2014 and 2018, Subramanian is presently Senior Fellow at Brown University’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs and Distinguished Senior Fellow at the nonprofit think tank Center for Global Development.
