From Ghana to Tanzania, these 10 dynamic leaders are advancing bold, locally rooted solutions across the African continent — including Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, and Tanzania.

Meet the 2026 Africa Big Bets Fellows and read more about their projects’ big bets and their intended benefiting regions, below:

Backed by The Rockefeller Foundation’s Convening and Networks team and supported by the Foundation’s Africa Regional Office, the Fellows are changemakers deeply embedded in the communities they serve. They are driving scalable impact across energy access, food systems, financial inclusion, healthcare, climate resilience, and more — guided by a shared commitment to the power of local leadership.

This inaugural Africa cohort builds on the momentum of previous Big Bets Fellowships in Latin America and the Caribbean, the United States, and Asia-Pacific, deepening the Foundation’s investment in community-led innovation that meets global challenges head-on.

Over a five-month fellowship, Fellows will engage in immersive learning, peer exchange, and global networking designed to amplify their impact — and help turn bold ideas into lasting, systemic change.
