U.S. Senator James Inhofe, who has died at the age of 89, was an exceptional servant to his faith, to American citizens, and to people around the world. On behalf of The Rockefeller Foundation team, I want to share my condolences with Jim’s family, friends, and former constituents.
More than a decade ago, Senator Inhofe and I and an unlikely group of allies worked together to rededicate the United States to addressing endemic hunger in Africa and other places that were vulnerable to it. Jim demonstrated time and again that he genuinely cared for those who had the least—those who too often went hungry—and his values called him to ensure America did more to extend a helping hand. His work and kindness proved what’s possible when we come together across the lines, whether it’s political parties or borders, that divide us.
