The Rockefeller Foundation and, as applicable, other entities involved in administering the convenings (together, the “Entities”) may collect and process personal information about an applicant (“Applicant”) in connection with the convening. Personal information may include identifiers and contact information (such as first and last name and email address) and other information submitted in application materials. This processing will be carried out in accordance with (i) the Foundation’s Privacy Policy (available at https://www.rockefellerfoundation.org/privacy-policy/) and (ii) applicable data protection laws and regulations. The Entities will use Applicants’ personal information for purposes consistent with the Foundation’s Privacy Policy, including to: (a) receive and administer applications; (b) assess Applicants’ candidacy for a convening; (c) administer, operate, and secure the convening and related systems; and (d) comply with legal requirements and protect the safety, property, and rights of the Entities and others. Depending on the jurisdiction and context, these activities may be carried out on the basis of legitimate interests, performance of a contract or steps prior to entering into a contract, compliance with legal obligations, and/or consent where required by law.
If you submit materials that contain the personal information of any individuals other than yourself, you represent and warrant that you have provided appropriate notice to such individuals and that they have given permission for you to disclose their information to the Entities and for the Entities and their service providers to use such information for the purposes described herein.
By checking the acceptance box and signing up for the convening or sending application materials, you expressly consent and agree to the collection and use of the personal information in those materials and you acknowledge that your personal information will be processed in accordance with the Foundation’s Privacy Policy and these rules for the purposes of administering and operating the convening program.
For the avoidance of doubt, The Entities may contact you regarding your application and the convening, including administrative and operational communications. Where permitted by applicable law, and subject to your communication preferences, the Foundation may also use your personal information to contact you about their charitable activities and organizational missions. You may opt out of non‑essential communications at any time.
The Entities may disclose the Applicants’ personal data to third parties: (i) when required by law or by a judicial resolution authorizing it; (ii) to cooperate with government authorities in judicial investigations; (iii) to enforce or protect the intellectual property or rights of the Entities; (iv) to fulfill any obligations and/or commitments directly or indirectly related to the convenings. Personal information may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where the Foundation or its service providers maintain operations. Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards will be implemented for international transfers of personal information.
The provision of personal data by Applicants is voluntary, notwithstanding being a necessary requirement for signing up for the Residency Program. In case of not providing personal data, or providing false or inaccurate data, the Applicant understands that they will not be able to participate in the convening and/or may be disqualified.
The Applicant has the right to access their personal data for free at intervals not less than six (6) months unless a legitimate interest is proven. The Applicant may also request the rectification, updating, and deletion of their personal data by reaching out to the contact detailed in the Foundation’s Privacy Policy.
The personal data of Applicants submitted to the convening program will be subject to applicable data privacy laws and regulations, as well as the individual Privacy Policies of each Entity. Please read the privacy policies of each Entity before submitting your personal information to the convening program (see privacy policies of The Rockefeller Foundation). The terms of the privacy policies of the Entities may not be the same, and it is the Applicants’ responsibility to read the terms of each privacy policy.
