Data for Impact: Confronting Covid-19 and Future Pandemics

Modeling and data-driven analytics have been invaluable tools in the global response to the Covid-19 crisis. However, deploying these analytical tools, and communicating insights, has been challenging in the best scenarios and nearly impossible in most others, especially in areas with scarce data.

Despite these real-world challenges, the successes we’ve seen are thanks to the tireless efforts of epidemiologists and data scientists who went above and beyond their day jobs as professors and researchers and used their expertise to help fight the pandemic.

The insights and tools they’ve created have been used by decision makers to better understand the spread and dynamics of Covid-19 in their own communities, helping to deploy a more informed public health response to set us on a better track for a safer, healthier future.

These analytics have empowered local decision makers to create the most effective testing and re-opening plans for their schools, allocate hospital resources more efficiently, and distribute vaccines to their communities while minimizing waste and maximizing coverage.

Join us for a conversation with our global network of engineers, scientists, and communicators on the frontlines of deploying analytics to save lives. We’ll be discussing the cross-cutting challenges and lessons from doing this work in the context of this pandemic, share stories of impact, and highlight the long-term value of this work beyond Covid-19.
