Bringing creativity and capital to distressed communities in the U.S. | Agnes Dasewicz

The United States is the richest country in the world – yet across the country, there are deep pockets of persistent poverty. What can be done to turn these communities around? Are there lessons to be learned from how the international community helped lift people out of poverty in post-Soviet Eastern Europe or through aid and investment in Africa?

Agnes Dasewicz has over 20 years of experience in private equity and impact investment in emerging markets and most recently, she served as the Director of the Office of Private Capital and Microenterprise at the U.S. Agency of International Development where she led the Agency to design and implement several key initiatives at the nexus of commercial investment and development finance. As an RF Fellow, she is working on a project titled Opportunity America which focuses on increasing knowledge and identifying opportunities to create and finance sustainable infrastructure and economic growth in the US.
