Peng Gong

Peng Gong is a professor in the Center for Earth System Science at Tsinghua University.  As the director of this center he is building a multi-disciplinary program housing scholars from the atmospheric, oceanographic, ecologic, geographic, economic and computer science fields to measure, model, and understand global environmental changes and their effects on human wellbeing. He has taught in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management at the University of California since 1994 on subjects of remote sensing and geographic information sciences. Through collaboration with public health researchers at the University of California, China CDC and the Chinese Academy of Military Health, he has worked for over two decades on the modelling and understanding of the transmission of schistosomiasis, malaria, plague, hanta virus and avian influenza diseases.  He is an author of over 400 research articles and 7 books.
