Dr. Katie Wilson

Executive Director, Urban School Food Alliance

Dr. Katie Wilson serves as Executive Director of the Urban School Food Alliance. Dr. Wilson’s career includes serving as Deputy Under Secretary of Food, Nutrition and Consumer services at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Executive Director of the Institute of Child Nutrition – the only federally funded national center dedicated to applied research, education and training and technical assistance for child nutrition programs and the 2008-2009 School Nutrition Association National President. She also knows firsthand the challenges of school food service having served as a food service director at various school districts in her home state of Wisconsin. Dr. Wilson also serves on the Board of Directors for Eating City International, a non-profit that brings together young people from around the world to an annual Food Sustainability in Institutional Settings Summit in France. She has also spent time in the UK, working with stakeholders and legislators, encouraging the start -up of breakfast programs and summer meal service. Dr. Wilson has dedicated her career to ensuring children and families have access to healthy, appealing meals and is considered one of the top experts in child nutrition.
