100 Resilient Cities at Clinton Global Initiative

The Rockefeller Foundation was proud to make our $100 million commitment to resilient cities at the 2013 Clinton Global Initiative. Judith Rodin was joined onstage by New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu, and our partners Swiss Re, Palantir, World Bank Group, American Institute of Architects, and Architecture for Humanity, to advance our vision for global urban resilience.

In his introduction starting at 19:30 in the video embedded below, President Bill Clinton noted: “Every five days, a million people move from rural to urban areas. Cities around the world are struggling to confront the interrelated challenges of urbanization, globalization, and climate change. As natural and manmade shocks continue to intensify in both size and frequency, they must build for resilience. The need to do that has never been more clear.”

Tune in to the livestream of Clinton Global Initiative on September 25, 2013 at 4pm for “Building Resilient Cities and Coasts.” CNN’s Fareed Zakaria moderates a discussion on urban resilience with Judith Rodin, World Bank Group president Jim Yong Kim, and New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.
