World Health Organization's Alliance for Health Systems and Policy Research

The Rockefeller Foundation supported efforts to map and analyze Southern health policy institutes, which are often the “missing link” in systemically developing evidence and policy options to improve national health systems.

This video, produced by health economist Sara Bennett, formerly head of WHO’s Alliance for Health Systems and Policy Research and now at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, addresses both the opportunities inherent in developing strong institutions, and capacity within those institutions, as well as the challenges that many institutes face in retaining high quality staff, influencing policy, and developing a strong financial base.
