State Explores Private Equity

The Portland Business Journal highlights Rockefeller Foundation's support of the West Coast Infrastructure Exchange, a platform to accelerate new public-private finance models for infrastructure projects in California, Oregon, and Washington.

Excerpt:  Oregon, California and Washington are in the early stages of a new partnership to explore ways of accessing private capital for public projects — from schools to roads to wastewater treatment facilities.

Though the effort is nascent, Gov. John Kitzhaber said last week that he hopes what emerges is a way for the three states to create economies of scale to address infrastructure needs that in Oregon alone could reach $200 billion over the next 20 years.
