China’s Engagement in African Countries

A Rockefeller Foundation Exploration

 
China has been interacting with African regions for more than a thousand years. Yet never before has the presence of this Asian country been as deeply imbedded or as widespread as it is today, and as it will likely continue to be in the future. Particularly during the last decade, The People’s Republic of China, now boasting the world’s third largest economy (behind the United States and Japan), has set an indelible footprint on the world’s second-largest continent. How this will affect people and African economies is a growing concern for the development community.
