Conference Scam Alert!
From time to time, scam emails circulate that purport to be from the Rockefeller Foundation. Most recently, emails have been sent that appear to invite the recipient to an international NGOs/CBOs workshop on development financing, purportedly sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation and other international organizations, to be held in New York in July and Albany, New York in April, 2010.
The email uses our logo and links to information on the Rockefeller Foundation’s website. Recipients are told that their transportation and accommodation expenses for the conference will be paid, but they are required to first send a registration fee for each participant via Western Union to an address in Kara, Togo, West Africa.
These emails and the persons sending them are in no way associated or affiliated with the Rockefeller Foundation, and we recommend that you do not respond to them. We are not involved in any conference such as that described in the email.
