Add Your Artistic Flourish to New York City’s Landscape

Register for the urbancanvas Design Competition by July 19th

How many construction site fences, sidewalk sheds, and scaffolds have you passed that detract from the beauty of New York City’s landscape?

The urbancanvas Design Competition invites artists and designers from across the United States to propose their innovative artwork for display on the protective structures at building sites.  Created by the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, the Department of Buildings and the Department of Cultural Affairs, the competition is supported by the Rockefeller Foundation.

First step: Register by Monday, July 19th. (Your artwork submission will not be due until July 28th.)

A jury of world-renowned artists, designers and civic decision makers will select the winning designs in collaboration with the Public Design Commission of the City of New York. Chosen artwork will then be offered to building owners to reproduce on the construction site structures, some of which will remain in place for nearly a year.
