Bellagio Center, Italy

Through convenings and residency programs, The Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center supports the work of scholars, artists, thought leaders, policymakers, and practitioners who share in the Foundation’s mission to “promote the well-being of humanity.”

Situated on the shore of Lake Como in northern Italy, the Center has served as backdrop for a number of meaningful advances, from meetings that led to the Green Revolution and the Global AIDS vaccine initiative to residencies that furthered the work of such artists as Glenn Ligon and Maya Angelou. The Convening Program provides space for exchanging ideas across disciplines and geographies, engaging in focused, small group interactions, and pushing creative and innovative thinking to address global challenges. Its rigorous residency application process ensures that the community reflects the greatest possible diversity to drive uncalculated, creative, collaborative thinking.
